Violence Against Women and Children Program
Overview
CWA is committed to protecting and promoting the rights of women and children. Papua New Guinea is in a process of rapid socio-economic change which is contributing to a range of problems within our society. One of these has been the increase in violence against women and children. CWA is looking to reduce the incidence of gender based violence within our communities by working closely with volunteers (both men and women) to help raise awareness and develop an understanding of these issues with local leaders, the health service, the police and legal services. Currently we are
working with over 100 people in different communities across Madang. CWA is also providing counseling training for our staff and volunteers in order to support the victims of gender based violence.
