About Us
The Madang Country Women's Association (CWA) was established in 1952 and built a cottage in 1959. The cottage back then was established to cater for the wives of colonial administrators, later rural women, coming to town to deliver babies. The cottage still stands today and runs a Guest House from which we have both national and international clients coming to stay. The Association had expanded over the years into doing community projects/programs. As a social enterprise, the guest house is the only major source of funding to the projects/programs.
Our Programs
The association, over the years, had other ongoing programs such as the formal and informal training for women and girls, sending women to Fiji to get training on how to do development work, and provide girls scholarship to further their education. Most of the programs were aimed to assist and empower women, though most have changed due to changing demands. Currently, there are four(4) core programs. See our Community Programs.
